Whats bad about downloading ActiveX control or Java applet in your browser?

i want to download a trial of Adobe Photoshop but i dont want anything downloaded that i dont want on my computer. is downloaing activeX or jave bad??Whats bad about downloading ActiveX control or Java applet in your browser?
ActiveX and Java can pose security problems if you don't know who is sending them to you, or you don't trust the site. The technologies themselves are benign (and are in frequent use), so there is no harm in downloading the Java or ActiveX itself. But be cautious of applets that require them.Whats bad about downloading ActiveX control or Java applet in your browser?
Java is what you need.

Active-x is a component. (applet)

A developer writes active-x components that can run in a web browser.

Usual ending in a .ocx extension.

OCX's can be registered on a remote system.

There are massive sectrity issues when you give an app permission to run through a web page. If I were nasty I could wipe you out with an active-x script. Be very careful. You are placing your security into the hands of another unknown person.

Active-x is depreciated. Use Ajax which runs at server side.

COM which is much better if you want to access the API on the server side.
Nothing is bad if you know what you'er doing..
