Any impacts if I change the classname for an ActiveX control from AfxOleControl42 to say EDIT ?

It's possible that a program or application using that specific ActiveX control will look for that specific name. If it doesn't find it, the application or program may not run. You could always try changing the name, see if things work for a couple of days (or weeks) and if it doesn't, change the name back.
