An active x control is a bit of software that web pages try to download to your pc to let programmes run and do stuff. Your internet security settings can prevent this, which can be a good thing as there are some nasty active x controls. However, if this is too strict, it can prevent programmes running that you want to use, like MSN. I'd advice using the default settings, in Internet Explorer click on the tools menu (at the top) and choose Internet options, then the security tab. If the default button isn't greyed out, click it. Then close Internet Explorer and re-open it again, go to MSN and it should work ok. If the default box WAS greyed out, it should all be fine.

ActiveX is an application used on many websites. It will not harm your PC. Not downloading the ActiveX control may impair the way the website looks. Other than that, it will have no affect on your PC.

It is necessary to download Active X control. You need this because My Space uses it. It is a programming code like Java or Flash. If you have windows Xp you can download from the information bar on the top of your screen. If not I am not sure. Hope this helps :-)

If you have Windows XP and don't have Service Pack 2, you should download and install that. It contains a fix for the ActiveX prompt you get in games. If you don't have Windows XP, when the prompt pops up, there should be a yellow bar also showing. Click on that to allow the ActiveX Control to download.

This will be fixed in Internet Explorer 7 after all the bugs have been taken care of.

you might have remove an older version first, go to adobe site, look for removal tool, run it, reboot go back and download latest flash

You obviously have XP SP2 installed - good. You need ActiveX to run most online applications.

You need it for a lot of your programs and it is going to keep asking you until it is installed. You can't uninstall what isn't installed the way some of these answers are telling you to. Internet Explorer has ActiveX Controls activated by default, so if u're currently using IE, u probably deactivated it somehow. I haven't used IE for so long I don't remember the config screens though.

None of the other browsers have ActiveX enabled by default. Most of them u have to download a plug-in or an extension.

ActiveX can either be a good thing or a bad thing, so use at ur own risk. ActiveX allows a website to run a program on ur computer, for example Windows Media Player which can enhance ur web browsing experience. But given so much power, it can also be used for bad things like running viruses and stuff if u're not careful. Make sure u trust the website 100% before allowing any ActiveX to run!!!

A little while ago I was playing around with my laptop and trying to make it run faster and I messed with some settings. and next thing i new activex controls need my permission to run EVERYTIME i open a page. some times two or 3 or more time i have to click yes before it will load the page. You might want to change this setting on the ';Trusted Sites'; zone as well just in case the page you're are opening is your trusted sites.

Norton is one of the worse progs i've ever seen , your better of getting a free anti virus , there's plenty around on the net like avg etc
This is probably not what you are going to want to hear, but I have lost total respect for Norton. I have always used Norton, but I installed the latest NIS 2008 and it basically ruined my computer. I had many things like what you described happen, not to mention that my computers performance went to the pot. My computer is fairly new and definitely met all of the minimum system requirements. I tried everything. Turning off features, everything. No help. I contacted their customer support via email. They said they would get back to me in 96 hours (no joke). After a week and a half, I got a canned email saying their support center had been hit with a lot of emails and that I should just try the stuff on their website, which was of no help what so ever. They said they were closing the case unless I said otherwise. I emailed them back immediately and said don't close the case and I have still not heard back from them to this day. My suggestion is to uninstall it, which is a trick because the uninstall doesn't get rid of everything. You have to download a special tool to get rid of everything. Once its gone, get a refund. You should go to cnet and read all of the bad reviews. They are very similar to this.

Presumbly you are on Xp. Go to tools %26gt; internet options %26gt; advanced and tick the boxes which say ';disable script de-bugging';. Also lower your security and privacy levels (under the other tabs on internet options menu). Most people avoid the problem in the first place by using firefox as the main browser. Once you have got used to it, I doubt you would go back, and it's much more secure. Plus it doesn't use dangerous active x in the first place. They make it easy to transfer all your favo(u)rites etc

In Excel you have two drop-down lists:

1- the one that you create it from View %26gt; Toolbars %26gt; Forms

This one is easy to assign a range to it using ';properties %26gt; control';

2- the one that you create it from View %26gt; Toolbars %26gt; Control Toolbox.

This one is the same as the one in VBE, the one that you use it in VBA fomrs.

So

Add items to it using the property ';ListFill Range'; and you can also assign a cell to get the selected item in ';LinkedCell';

You don't have other that these two drop-down lists in Excel.

I'm not too clear about what you are trying to do. however if you are trying to connect to the internet reboot the router and the modem if it is a home PC, you can also click on the two small pictures of a monitor on the icon tray and hit ';repair'; this will try to reset your connection. I am trying to drag and drop a newer version of MSWINSCK.OCX into the system32 folder but i cant because it says do you want to overwrite and i click yes and then it says a file with that name already exists. Firefox does not have the same system but you can still block ';Active Content';. The following links will do what you want.

Flashblock will block all flash objects and will unblock them if you press it. Adblock Plus will block anything it recognizes as an ad including pictures and will let most flash objects you want opening.

I have used Visual C++ with openGL using the GLUT libraries. I do not think that any activeX was used. You might want to check out GLUT (but sometimes libraries use things you do not know about, but I think there was no activeX). Good luck!

I recommend you go to Tools-%26gt;Internet Options-%26gt;Advanced Tab and click the Reset button which disables all add-ons, changed settings, deletes all temporary files, and home pages. Read the notice screen so you can see what will be changed as a result of going back to default. This should help you with the problem since you were able to get to the site once before without any problems.

I accidently deleted the driver. I need help with getting it back. Also, I am getting blocked from some web sites because the page is being blocked because of ActiveX control. you might try going to start then to all programs then to accessories then to system tools then system restore and restore your computer to a date before you deleted the driver -- if active x is still an issue after restore then you need to set your browser security to a lower setting -- hope this helpsCan someone tell me how to recover my sound card drivers and how to fix error message saying ';ActiveX control
